I like this set as it is compact and the knives cut well, already cut my finger. I was looking for a set that didn't have steak knives because I already have them. I like the stainless steel and the block color. Scissors seem a litte bit "cheap" but they work.

ginsu, wusthof knife review
I have a wusthhof classic knife set [forged high quality knives $300]. i was looking for cheap carving set to complement the set and fill the empty slots in the block.
These ginsu knives are the perfect match. It is hard to tell the wusthof handles from these ginsu knives. The triple rivels and handle color and design are right on.
Although blades are not made of forged hi carbon steel[ it's stainless steel], the knife the and fork are able to dissect the occasional turkey/roast.

Perfect Gift for a Cook
My father-in-law is very difficult to buy a gift for. He loves Ginsu knives, so the carving set was perfect for him. He was starting his standard holiday rant they he didn't want or need anything for Christmas when he saw the set and became quiet and smiled. He loves it! The long tines of the fork made carving the Christmas turkey a breeze. Love it! Love it!! Love it!!!

Many associate Ginsu knives with the product’s kitschy infomercial from the ‘70s that begins with a karate kick to a watermelon and proceeds with a demo of these knives cutting through just about anything in the house. Like the original product, Ginsu’s International Traditions is designed for the home cook who is not attuned to the maintenance required of a more high-end knife. However, this line is an improvement on the original, offering the weight, balance, and style of a commercial-quality knife, while meeting current design trends and performance expectations.

This set provides a 5-inch fork--which holds a pork loin or rump roast still--and a 7-1/2-inch slicer for carving. Both fork head and blade are constructed from stainless steel and, although they do not have full tangs, are instead encased in a strip of bakelite, which is sandwiched within a brushed stainless-steel handle. The steel handle provides some of the weight of the missing tang and a sleek, modern style. The slicer features a two-dimensional serrated edge that is symmetrically-cut on either side for more accurate slicing and for either right- or left-handed use. nice compliment to my set
Product came new as ordered. Nice compliment to my other Ginsu set that I bought in a store. The knives of the set work great and have a nice weight to them. I only gave a 4 because I have not compared them to very expensive knives which I probably would never buy anyway. The Ginsu knife set and carving set are beautiful stainless steel. Do they rust? I don't know I don't put them in my diswasher I hand wash them. The dishwasher recks havoc on all dishes in my opinion and I only use it for glassware, plates, and common utensils not my good stuff or things I want to protect for a long time.

I recommend this set and the knife set if you come across them.

Hey what you expect for $12.99. Sure it's not up there with German-made cutlery, but then again it's not in the same price category. I am not a professional chef so I don't care if it has the cachet of a high price set. All I want is functionality.

Great knives - Good price
I bought this set as an adjunct to the Ginsu knife set with block (that comes with six of these same steak knives), as I needed to complete a service for eight. They are of the same quality - nice weighty feel and very sharp. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on cutlery, and I feel that I got a great deal for what I did spend on these.

Not a bad knife set for cheap, but has a rust problem
I originally purchased these knives because of their low price and relatively respectable product name. However, I found that after only a few uses, they developed rust spots. I hand-wash these knives and let them dry in a rack with the rest of my silverware, which I've never had a rust problem with.
The knives are sharp, and decently weighted, but make sure you dry them off after you're finished washing them if you want to preserve them.

You won't be disappointed
I bought a dozen of these mostly on previous experience with Ginsu. New and improved over the previous generation, highly recommended. I know from shopping around you could certainly spend a lot more, but I doubt you would get a better knife. Cuts like butter, nice heftiness to the knife. Havn't gotten any rust going through the dishwasher. No question, best value out there.

Great Ginsu knives
These Ginsu knives are a tremendous value. I recently was given a similar performing single knife with a better handle, but it costs $50! Here are two great knives for $20.00. They are extremely sharp, and the hollowed blade design reduces the tendency for cut items to stick on the blade. The set of smaller and larger versions is all you need to do most cutting jobs in the kitchen.
